The Ashok Leyland has announced its global expansion plans as EV producers of buses and vans into India through its subsidiary Switch Mobility U.K. based and its plan to create two subsidiary companies.
Switch Mobility Automation is the first to formed EV strategy in India. While OHM Global Mobility is the second, that focuses on providing mobility as a Service offering.
The capabilities of both Optare UK and Ashok Leyland’s EV Division of Ashok Leyland’s was brought by Switch Mobility Automotive. OHM Global Mobility is a solution company that will help companies who has ambitious plans to roll out Mobility as a Service (eMaaS) globally in India. Net carbon zero emission solution will be provided in India by Switch and OHM.
“We see huge opportunities for growth through Switch’s expansion in India and Global markets,” said by Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman, Ashok Leyland and Switch Mobility.
Bus and light commercial vehicle company is what the Switch Mobility focuses, with the mission to enrich lives through green mobility.
The Ashok Leyland shares rose 3.78% to settle at Rs 116.75 from the day the announcement was made on April 7, 2021 up to the next day. The Ashok Leyland, flagship of the Hinduja Group has become the second largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in India, the fourth largest manufacturer of buses in the world, and the seventeenth largest manufacturer of trucks.
